August 15th is a public holiday in many European countries. This means additional restrictions on truck traffic that can significantly impact your routes and delivery times. If you manage a fleet, plan international transport, or are returning to base after a job, check where and when truck bans apply in connection with Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We’ve compiled a list of current truck traffic bans in effect on August 15, 2025, in Poland and other European countries that may appear on your route. These data have been confirmed by reliable sources and are valid through 2025.
Prohibitions in Poland – August 15, 2025
In Poland, the bans apply to vehicles and vehicle combinations with a GVM above 12 tonnes.
- August 14 (Thursday): 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- August 15 (Friday): 08:00 – 22:00
These prohibitions result from the Regulation of the Minister of Transport and are identical to those for most national and religious holidays in Poland.

What do you need to know?
Who does the prohibition not apply to?
Most countries have similar exceptions, for example:
- transport of live animals and perishable goods,
- emergency, military and humanitarian services,
- vehicles returning to the country of registration after completing international transport (e.g. to Poland),
- vehicles serving mass events or road repairs,
- vehicles with express and postal shipments.
Detailed lists of exceptions are published individually by each country. It’s important to have documentation confirming the reason for the transport.
Practical advice for carriers
- Check national regulations – even if a country does not formally have bans (e.g. the UK), entry to a neighbouring country may be blocked.
- Familiarize yourself with holiday restrictions – many countries have weekend travel restrictions regardless of holidays.
- Make sure you have the appropriate documents – loading confirmations, contracts, transport orders.
- Plan your stops – secure parking in advance, especially in countries like Austria, Germany and France.
- Use alternative routes or dates – especially for urgent deliveries or detours around large cities.
The August 15th holiday means truck traffic restrictions in most EU countries – and failure to comply can result in a fine, vehicle impoundment, or even the loss of a contract. Therefore, it’s worth carefully reviewing the schedule and adapting your logistics to the applicable regulations.
